Dubai Shopping Tour
Any Time: approximately 4 hours
Returning from Dubai without shopping is like visiting Paris without seeing the
Eiffel Tower. Dubai, home of the world’s biggest shopping festival, is a haven
for bargain hunters, not least because of its tax-free status. Luxury malls
offer the ultimate experience that will indulge all your shopping fantasies.
This tour does not have a guide, but a very knowledgeable driver who will take
you wherever you want to go.
Start your day at the Karama Centre, where you can bargain for anything from
Sheesha pipes to clothing and leather purses that are designer knockoffs. Then,
proceed to Al Fahidi Street where a string of electronic shops try to out do
each other in value and variety. The Mina Bazaar, which is filled with textiles,
and Al Waleed Road or Computer Street are also nearby.
Your driver will take you to any of the contemporary shopping centres you wish
you go like: City Centre, Bur Juman Centre, Wafi Shopping Centre and Al Ghurair
City. All offer a variety of international shops and designs. You may also want
to take a ride along the creek and stop at the Twin Towers or the Gold and Spice
Souks. Sample a variety of nuts at “Choc n Nuts.” Some tourists swear they’re
the best around. Next door is a good place to buy handmade Afghan carpets. Also
in this area is the Electronic Souk.
